My therapeutic approach is to create a supportive environment in which you will feel valued and understood. Together we will work as a team developing goals and applying solutions so you are able to return to your best. I want offer a safe place to be open and honest without fear and judgment.

I use an eclectic blend of therapeutic approach that includes, mindfulness, cognitive behavior, and strengths based approach.

Andrea Johnson, LMHC

Counselor

I have successfully worked with adults and children of all ages and social backgrounds, affected by traumatic events or possible stress due to unexpected life changes. I specialize in relieving anxiety and depression symptoms such as repetitious behaviors, excessive worry, low self-esteem, and an overall feeling of not being in control of one's life.

I believe that by empowering the individual, they will be able to bring about positive change on their own, and become mentally and physically healthy again. Through my previous work as a community counselor, I have experience with what it takes to make a family unit function soundly, while still enhancing the uniqueness of the individuals within it. I have been honored to assist children and teens with overcoming the consequences of abuse and neglect, and being their advocate when they needed a voice.

I hold a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and am currently licensed with the State of Indiana as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). My approach is using the Cognitive Behavioral model (CBT/TF-CBT) with a strength based and collaborative approach; however, I include educational and alternative interventions to treat the whole person, based on your specific needs and wants.

Having family members with dementia gave me a special interest in the functions of the brain; specifically, how cognitive abilities and personalities are altered by disease, trauma, and substance use. My hobbies are caring for my animals, forensic science, trying new foods and recipes, and playing a variety of video games.

How much do you really want to read about me or other therapists?!? I'm overwhelmed with all the similar offerings and I'm a therapist! For what it's worth, as therapists, we sincerely want to help, and as humans, we need to work. As you make a therapist selection, and please do, therapy is the best, consider selecting someone you'll be comfortable enough with to be honest with, someone you'll accept feedback from, the good kind and the uncomfortable kind that makes you grow, and someone you find it won't be difficult to relate to.

I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) and a certified alcohol and drug abuse counselor (CADAC IV)...
